FRENCH FRIDAY #47: BATEAU

LA TASSE DE CAFE | FASHIONABLE FRENCH VOCABULARY sponsored by KatyBelle Boutique

Bateau
French Pronounciation:  |  bah-to |

Definition :  boat

Yes, that's right! Today, I'm having a Tasse de Kaffee because Mademoiselle Love is in Deutschland. So close to France, and yet so far away! For those of y'all in the U S of A, I hope y'all have a great 4th of July weekend! How do you celebrate? Do you wear Red, White & Blue because it's America's Birthday? Or do you celebrate with nautical themed barbecue parties? Or maybe, just maybe, you go out on your very own bateau

What's bateau you ask? It's boat in French! But you probably already knew that! But does Amy Lynn know it?

Amy Lynn:   That's a nice boat neck top you have on!

Simone: Yes, I know! Oh, and it's a bateau neckline.

Amy Lynn:  Well, excusez-moi! What do you say we go out on Pierre's sailboat today?

Simone: You mean his bateau à voile?

Amy Lynn: OMG! Yes!!!

However you celebrate 4th of July, I hope you also remember to take a moment to think of those who so bravely fought and died for the good old U S of A. See you next Friday for Tasse de Kaffee!

Jenée Sais Quoi here:
Katybelle boutique had Mademoiselle Love and I in full American form with sheer boat neck tops dotted in Anchors and blue skirts with red polka dots. I could live in these outfits all summer!

I outfitted Mlle Love with a Navy stripe top to go with her Kateybelle polka dot skirt. I love mixing patterns. For moi, a hot pink bandeau bra top under this sheer shirt is a fun way to interject a bit of "red". The stripe mini keeps in the nautical theme.

The Origin of "La Tasse de Café", French for "the cup of coffee"
is a morning radio show out of Ville Platte, Louisiana on KVPI-FM
My dad listens to it regularly to keep up with his Cajun French as he now doesn't have much opportunity to speak it in Louisiana where the language is disappearing.
Since I'm from Cajun land in Louisiana - with a serious interest in fashion - and Mademoiselle Love, a Louisiana girl too, - is in love with everything French and everything coffee - it was only fitting we pay tribute to our roots and our new found loves with a weekly Fashion French lesson.

Tune in to KVPI every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning at 8:45AM (NY time) for your Cajun  French lesson and come back to the blog every Friday for more Fashionable French lessons.
