FRENCH FRIDAY with La Prairie des Femmes

Qui ti Parles?
La Tasse de Café | French Friday

Qui ti Parles? is the greeting from Mark Layne when he answers the line on the radio show "La Tasse de Cafe" on KVPI. It translates to, "Who is speaking?" On the next French Friday a guest French teacher will share a lesson on Jenée Sais Quoi !!!!!!!

While home in Louisiana for the holidays, my parents drove me "way out in the country" to visit my new friend who I call La Prairie des Femmes. It's the name of her blog about a rural cajun community in the Parish we share - St. Landry.

Over Coffee and Corn Bread we discussed Cajun French words and the amusing situations in which these terms pop up. My mom had some pretty good input as she retold stories about my cajun grandmother - Maw Maw Sais Quoi :) - and her use of the word, Catin.  Do you have any idea what it means???

Come back next week for La Prarie des Femmes' French lesson on La Tasse de Café. In the meantime, check out this fun story about a Cajun New Year tradition about Madame Grands Doigts. It's great when you are having gift giving withdrawals after Christmas.
